Silverfish

Silverfish

Silverfish are nocturnal insects disposed to invading new homes from nearby areas. They can also be transported into houses on wallboard, timber and similar products. Large numbers can sometimes be found in new buildings in which the walls are still damp. They are primitive, wingless insects covered with silvery scales that rub from the insect’s body very easily

During the day they hide, while at night they roam seeking for foods and other materials including cereals, moist flour, paper on which there is glue or paste, including wall paper, bookbinding’s and starch in clothing and rayon fabrics. Silverfish usually live and develop close to their food source in damp, cool places, though they have the ability to live without food for several months.
